Health: All babies have a 7 day full price replacement guarantee and a 3 Year Limited Guarantee providing the bird is seen by an ABPV-certified avian (bird) veterinarian of your choice with-in 48 hours of purchase or shipping arrival. This guarantee starts when you take possession of the bird and will follow the terms and policies set on this terms of service / guarantee page.
babies: If you are purchasing a hand-fed baby
a lot of time has been put into the care and feeding.
However, These are not domesticated animals and no
guarantee is made as to temperament and/or personality.
Babies will quickly lose their tameness if not handled
every day when they are young. Normally a bird that has
been hand-fed can be re-tamed within just a few hours of
dedicated handling time. In many cases re-taming a baby
only takes a few minuets. Contact us if you have any
questions about how to re-tame your baby if it has lost
its tameness. Sometimes babies get scared when first
meeting new owners or people. It may take a few days for your baby to get
adjusted to its new home. Recently weaned babies are also expected to lose
a small amount of weight. During the change over from formula to seed and
pellets most babies will experience a small weight loss. Do not be
alarmed. Your baby will quickly put weight back on within a week or two.
General Terms: We do not pay for or reimburse the vet visit , office visit or any medical charges at all. We do not pay for any medication as a policy, however we reserve the right on a case by case review to reimburse or partly cover medication charges. We only guarantee you the replacement of the bird in the event of death. We do not offer any cash or credit card refunds for any reason. If the doctor recommends that you return the bird you will need to contact us right away and return the bird within 12 hours so that we may seek any medical treatment that is needed. Failure to do so will result in the this guarantee being void. If the bird is returned within the 12 hours you will then be offered a credit for the full price that you paid (not including shipping fees) per our policy. If we do not have a bird available at the time, you will go on the top of our waiting list and will automatically be contacted as soon as a replacement is available. The wait could be a quick as one week or take as long as 90 days. If you choose to keep the bird and have it treated the guarantee is void and you will be responsible for all medical costs. The below question and answers section of this guarantee is part of the guarantee terms and we recommend you read the section in full.
Refund Policy: As stated in this
guarantee contract and on your order form in three different locations we
do not offer any refunds for deposits or payments. Until the bird is
delivered you are actually paying for the service of reservation. We
reserve the bird with a 50% or 100% payment. This assures that the bird is
on reserve and will not be sold to anyone else. At the time of delivery we
then take your reservation service payments and apply them to the cost of
3 Year Limited
* The autopsy (necropsy) that we talk about above is not required only because we don't want to require our customers to pay for such a costly service. However, you are welcome to have one done at your own expense. Of course, it would be advisable to have one done if you have other birds that were in contact with the bird in question. We would also be interested as breeders in knowing the results.
Hereditary Issues: Hereditary issues are covered only within the scope of visually being detected by a certified bird-avian veterinarian examination within 48 hours of buyer taking position of the bird and follow the conditions and terms set in this guarantee. Hereditary issues detected at any other time in the future are not covered and the purchase considered as is. (unless it results in death - them your 3 year coverage listed above will take effect) If the doctor recommends that you return the bird you will need to do so quickly and within 12 hours so that we may seek any medical treatment that is needed. Questions & Answers
Question - Why is this such a limited guarantee with no refunds offered?
Answer - As with any living animal, fear, loss of appetite, lack of sleep, lack of food or water, chilling, heat prostration and or other forms of stress can make a bird quickly susceptible to illness or death. These things can potentially cause diarrhea, respiratory infection, and a variety of other illnesses. Exposure to other birds, cigarette smoke or other toxins can rapidly deteriorate a birds health. After the bird leaves our care we have no control over these things. It is also normal and to be expected that a baby bird will lose weight during and for a short time after the weaning process as it is switching over to a regular diet. All of these issues are the reason our guarantee is limited and only extends to (48 hours) unless checked by a certified bird-avian veterinarian. If your bird is checked by a vet within 48 hours we then give you a 7 day full price replacement guarantee and a 3 year 50% replacement guarantee. Most breeders and most pet stores offer no guarantee at all on livestock. As is or no guarantee is the normal, A 3 year 50% replacement policy is unheard of in this business. We offer this limited guarantee because we are proud of the health and care we give each of our babies. We feed the highest quality feed and pellet food, The parents are supplied with multi vitamins and calcium at all times. Each breeder bird must pass strict standards before being entered into the breeding program. It is important for you to know that a totally 100% healthy bird at the time of purchase can get ill or even die within just a few hours. Birds are one of the most fragile animals on the planet. They can catch a cold or the flu as easy as a human can and in some cases even easier. Something as simple as leaving the window down on the way home from picking up your baby can cause it to catch a cold or cause a stress issue that results in the bird getting ill. These things are out of our control. Catching a cold on top of the already stressful condition of travel in some cases along with temperature changes taking place rapidly can be deadly. Also a bird that goes without eating or drinking for just one day can die. Birds have one of the quickest metabolisms of any animal. It is almost impossible to guarantee a bird once it has left our care because we have no control over its care from that moment forward. Something as simple as cooking dinner for your family can result in a healthy bird getting sick quickly. Its called Teflon toxicity. (See Info Below) This along with many other reasons is exactly why most bird breeders and pet stores offer an AS IS no health guarantee policy on all birds and live stock. Because of these and other issues we are only able to offer our very limited 7 day replacement guarantee, provided the bird is seen by a certified bird-avian veterinarian who certifies the baby was sick at the time of purchase. If your baby is being shipped it can be stressful, we believe that our shipping process in general is very low stress because of the special crates we use to ship our babies in and also because we use the petsafe shipping process that is very quick. However each baby handles things differently and because of this we do not consider a a slight growth of Gram-negative bacteria post-shipping to be disease but recognize that this is a stress-related reaction to being shipped. Gram-negative bacteria is something that is found in every bird from time to time and only becomes an issue when levels are high. As of the date this guarantee is being updated we have never had any issues with gram-negative bacteria in any of our babies or adult breeders. We are very proud of this fact.
Question - What about shipping, Do you cover the shipping cost if a replacement bird needs to be sent?
Answer - No. Shipping is a totally separate service that is not part of the guarantee. We offer to ship as a convenience only to our customers. We do not make any money on shipping and the shipping costs are mostly paid for by the customer at the airport or pre-paid to us in advance. We do cover a part of the shipping cost as a result we are able to pass on to the customers the lowest shipping cost of any breeder.
Question - Is there a difference in the airport to airport delivery VS the home delivery service
Answer - Both services are same day 24 hour service. The baby leaves my home and arrives at your home the very next day.
Question - If the bird had an illness that resulted in death, would you require the dead bird to be returned?
Answer - Yes. To date, this has never happened. However, we take health concerns very seriously and we would reserve the right to have an autopsy done as quickly as possible to make sure that the birds illness was not something that could cause any of our other birds illness or harm. Autopsy reports can save the life's of other babies.
Question - How do I get a copy of this guarantee?
Answer - Our guarantee may change or be updated at anytime. We supply all customers with access to this online current copy only. We recommend that you print a copy of this guarantee page on the day that you take possession of your new bird. You may also want to email a copy of this page to yourself as a backup copy. - Remember that even the question and answer section on this page is part of your guarantee.
Answer - We normally ship only twice a month. The airport is a 4 hour round trip and all of our shipments are scheduled by the airline to accommodate the travel time. The birds ready to go date is not exact and may be 5 to 6 days early or late depending on the bird being totally weaned onto seed and water. Normally the ready date posted is pretty close to being correct. We use the pet safe program and guarantee a safe delivery of your new baby. Answer - In all the years we have been shipping birds this has never happened . We do not ship any birds with out first sending notices to the buyer by email in advance We try to send no less than two notices. You will be sent the flight information and full details about shipping schedules with instructions by email in advance. If the bird is not picked up from the airport it is our understanding that the airline will also try to reach the buyer by phone and leave messages. After holding the bird for 4 hours will put the baby in the cargo managers office or send the bird to a veterinarian or animal care center until it can be shipped back to LuckyFeathers the next day. Any charges the airline may add for the animal care unit or transfer is the responsibility of the buyer. If the bird is shipped back to LuckyFeathers because it was not picked up the bird will again become the property of LuckyFeathers. To this date we have never had this happen. If this does happen we will not reship the bird for 7-14 days. Another shipment in such a small amount of time would be to stressful for the bird. The buyer will be responsible for paying the return and second shipment charges. If the bird is shipped back to LuckyFeathers and we are not contacted by the buyer within 48 hours, the buyer will lose all monies paid and no refunds will be issued for the bird or any shipping charges. If the bird is shipped back to LuckyFeathers and the buyer does contact us within 48 hours the only option available to the buyer will be a second shipping date and the buyer will have to cover the shipping cost. LuckyFeathers will absorb the time it took to schedule the flights, take the baby to the airport, go back and pick up the baby when it is returned, reschedule a new flight and take the baby back to the airport in Tampa for the second shipping, we will not cover any monies due for the shipping only the time it takes as listed above. We do not issue refunds of any monies paid in a case like this.
Question - What is your
refund policy? or
Answer - We do not offer refunds. We have never had an issue with shipping in the past. However the airline and flight schedules are generally out of our control. Many different things could cause a delay in shipping such as the baby bird not being totally weaned. Each baby decides on its own when it is ready to stop taking formula and switch to seed and pellets. We do not force any of our babies to wean before they are ready and in no conditions will we sell or ship a baby that is not weaned. We post a general ready date for each baby based on our past experience, It is possible that your baby was not ready or will not be ready to travel at the time we have posted. In this case we may need a little extra time to allow the baby to make the switch from formula to seed and pellets. Also we could have issues with the airlines such as flights being canceled, air-conditioning issues on the plane or a number of other issues. We can not guarantee an exact shipping schedule, However we will work hard to make sure the schedules work for you and the safety of the bird. If a flight or shipment has to be rescheduled it can take no less than a few hours or no more than 14 days. (Refunds) We do not offer refunds in any form, However if we can not get your bird rescheduled and shipped to you within 14 days of the original flight being canceled and we have tried to schedule the shipment with other pet approved airlines with no results, we reserve the right to make an exception to this refund policy. After all efforts have been made after 14 days and per the policies stated in this guarantee you may request in writing that we make an exception to the refund policy.
Question - Prior to shipping or pick up can I switch birds, change my mind and pick a different bird or even substitute for another bird.
Answer - Yes depending on the availability. We also reserve the right to substitute a bird if needed due to any health issues or concerns. If you (the customer) wishes to switch your bird for another bird we have available prior to shipping or pick up you will be required to pay any difference in the cost amount. However if you chose to substitute for a bird of lesser value you will not receive any refunds for the difference. Our policy is that the birds and the sale is not transferable, However we will work with you to make sure you receive the bird you want. We want our babies going to homes with excited new owners and for the relationship to last the lifetime of the bird.
Question - When using my guarantee credits in the future, can I use it to purchase any bird listed on the website?
- No, Guarantee credits can not be used
to purchase or replace any bird that has the letter (B) in the ID number.
Additional Guarantee Terms & Notes:
1. We will work with you. We do stand behind each baby bird and will follow the guarantee policies on this page exactly. However, It is very important that every customer be happy with our birds, so we reserve the right if we deem it necessary to bend policies to the buyers advantage in order to make every customer satisfied.
2. At any place in this guarantee we use the word baby or babies, We are talking about a baby bird , a young bird or adult bird. This guarantee covers any bird we sell - baby or adult. (Exceptions - Adult Birds are not covered on the 3 year guarantee)
3. All of our babies have ID numbered leg bands. If the leg band is removed from the bird at any time all of this guarantee is void. The ID numbered leg band must remain on the bird for identification. Any veterinarian reports or statements must include the birds ID number and must be added to the report or statement from the veterinarian or his/her office.
4. Guarantee credits can not be used to purchase birds that have an ID number that includes a (B).
Birds are susceptible to a respiratory condition called "teflon toxicity" or "PTFE poisoning/toxicosis." Deaths can result from this condition, which is due to the noxious fumes emitted from overheated cookware coated with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). This chemical is found on most non-stick cookware and appliances, some stain repellant products, and other household items. (PTFE) intoxication, is a rapid and lethal gaseous intoxication of all species of birds. We strongly recommed you research PTFE online for more information.

Additional Terms: This guarantee is to follow all rules and laws of Pasco County Florida. Any mediation or court actions must take place in or through Pasco County Courts or Pasco County Florida Services. If any part of this guarantee is judged as not legal or binding, the rest of the guarantee will still be in full force and effect. You agree by purchase to the terms of this guarantee. Buyer also understands and agrees that at no time will or can LuckyFeathers or its owners be held responsible for any more money other than the amount that was paid for the bird as we do not cover any shipping, medical or legal costs. You understand that we do not offer refunds and only offer a credit that can be used to purchase a replacement bird from us providing the terms of the guarantee are within the limits set and honored. You will be able to use up to your credit amount for the purchase of another bird from us. If you chose a bird of lesser value any remaining credits will be lost as they have no cash value at all. Guarantee credits can not be used to pay for any other products or services including shipping or delivery costs. Buyer also agrees that if a Florida Court or mediation service were to rule any monies due to the buyer the total amount would not exceed the full price that was paid for the bird not including shipping.
